Rich & Charlene's '92 ZR-1
On May 1, 2007 my wife and I retired from our respective jobs; mine as an Engineer with the State of Alaska, hers as a Loan Officer with Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. I had wanted a ZR-1 since I saw the first ad back in 1989. We were up at my cousin's house visiting my aunt, who was up from California visiting her son. He mentioned his wife's Corvette and we went out to his garage to look at it. It was up on jacks and had been for about 2 years. The second I saw it, I said to my wife, "My God, honey, it's a ZR-1." My cousin said, "Yes, it is. and as soon as I get it back together, it's for sale." I said, "Put it back together, I'll buy it." I had to wait to pull the money out of my retirement account to pay for the car, so we had to wait for awhile. He finished it on July 9, 2007 and we went and picked up my ultimate dream car. We've never looked back, except in the rearview mirror at the cars that can't keep up!
